COMPETENCY MAPPING VS SKILL MATRIX

Here i am giving brief idea about basic difference between Competency Mapping Vs Skill Matrix.



Skill is basically a part of competency. Competency consists of three parameters- Knowledge (K), Attitude (A) and Skills(S). Say For example- I might be having very good interpersonal skills , but I will not be competent to join a company as Professional unless I possess adequate education/ experience (Knowledge) and the right temperament/ behavior (attitude).

Competency Mapping is actually done for Management Staff Whereas Skill Matrix is usually done for the operators level.

Skill Matrix is Skill based. The capability of doing things with the Training underwent whereas Competence Mapping is Competency based. The capability of doing things with the knowledge.

Competency Mapping is based on KSAs (Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes) whereas Skill Matrix is done by comparing the machine utility and then the operator's capabilities.
